Mr. Umar completed his graduation and post-graduation in Psychology and Applied Psychology from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and went on to pursue his M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology at NIMHANS, Bangalore, one of India’s leading institutes for mental health. At NIMHANS, he received rigorous training in psychotherapy, psychodiagnostics, neuropsychological assessments, and developed a specialization in projective testing.
With professional experience in working with individuals across diverse age groups, Umar has addressed a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, personality difficulties, and family-related challenges. His therapeutic orientation is best described as integrative, rooted in existential and client-centred principles, while also drawing upon evidence-based modalities such as CBT and Schema Therapy. This allows him to approach each client with curiosity and provide personalized, holistic care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Umar has conducted workshops and contributed to training and supervising budding therapists, reflecting his commitment to building capacity in the mental health field. His research interests focus on understanding the client’s perspective of therapeutic processes, with the aim of enhancing therapeutic outcomes and strengthening the therapist–client alliance.
